The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP)

The Euro-Mediterranean Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held in Barcelona on 27-28 November 1995, marked the starting point of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, a wide framework of political, economic and social relations between the Member States of the European Union and Partners of the Southern Mediterranean.

The European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP)

Launched in 2003, the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) aims at creating a ring of countries, sharing EU's democratic ideals and joining them in further integration without necessarily becoming full member states of the EU.

The EU Strategic Partnership with the Mediterranean & the Middle East

Adopted in June 2004, it provides a policy framework for these two regions with a view to promoting political, economic and social reform, generated from within the affected societies, as well as contributing to their socio-economic development.
