Better Access to Justice for the Most Vulnerable Groups in Algeria
This project, run by Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) in cooperation with the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network and supported by the European Union through its Delegation in Algiers, is specifically focused on Algeria. Its main focus is the providing of free legal assistance to specific vulnerable groups, including families of disappeared persons and victims of terrorism, victims of torture and women in vulnerable situation and their children. It also includes a series of seminars and training activities for lawyers and relevant ONGs as well as seminars/round tables on the status and role of lawyers and the free legal assistance system (access to justice).
The project has been on hold for several months due to difficulties related in particular to the refusal of issuing the necessary visas to visit Algeria. In order to overcome these problems a revised project proposal was sent to the EU delegation. The project implementation will hopefully resume following approval of this amended proposal.
