EMHRN Mission to Gaza

At the time the Hamas announces the creation of a “special legal committee”  to administrate justice in the Gaza Strip, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network has sent a mission to evaluate the Human Rights situation and to support the organizations dedicated to the defense of Human Rights.
The mission is composed of Per Stadig and Stefan August Lütgenau. Both are members of the PIP Working Group.
They arrived in Gaza last Sunday and they already met a few representatives of the Palestinian National Authority. Today they will meet the Prime Minister Ismaïl Haniyeh. They should also meet
Hamas and Fatah officials and members of EMHRN member organisations (Al-Haq, Al Mezan, PCHR, B’Tselem…). the mission should end on Sunday.

The mission will investigate the current situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, especially the Gaza Strip with regard to the overall situation Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
It will also discuss the future of the EMHRN Working Group on Palestine, Israel and the Palestinians with as many members as possible and advice the EMHRN on necessary and adequate steps and decision with regard to the mission’s findings
