The Initiatives in the Field of Judicial Reform in the Euro-Mediterranean Region
An independent judiciary is vital for the domestic protection of human rights and it is for this reason that the EMHRN chose to focus on this issue both for this report, and for the related country reports. The members of the EMHRN Justice Working Group were concerned that while there were many actors implementing projects relating to justice in the region, it was difficult to ascertain who was doing what, and with what specific objectives. The purpose of this report therefore is to inform both of initiatives that are ongoing and projected for the near future, and also of the sources of funds that are available for actions relating to the independence of the judiciary.
