| Mandate |
Al Mezan’s mandate is “to promote, protect and prevent violations of human rights in general and economic, social and cultural (ESC) rights in particular, to provide effective aid to those victims of such violations, and to enhance the quality of life of the community in marginalized sectors of the Gaza Strip.

| Main Activities |
The center carries out various activities in the filed of ESCR, human rights and education, migration and refugees, justice and freedom of speech, including:
1. Workshops and reports on different human rights sectors (health, housing, education, environment…. etc.)
2. Two annual conferences on the general budget of the Palestinian National Authority for 2003 and 2004.
3. Workshop on the Rule of Law: The Implementation of Judiciary Orders in the OPT
4. Workshop on the Constitutional Court Law
5. Workshop on the protection of journalists and freedom of speech.
6. Training sessions on human rights and democracy and on developing legal skills
9. Research on refugees and displaced persons in the Gaza Strip.
12. Numerous Press Releases on violations of the economic, social and cultural rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
13. In 2003, the centre implemented the Resource Library project which seek to redress the current lack of resources and centralized information sources by providing a collection of books on the following subjects:
