Towards a Genuine Involvement of Civil Society in the Barcelona Process
|
Working and Synthesis Papers from the Luxembourg Euromed Civil Forum, April 2005 (published by the Euromed Non-Governmental Platform and the Cercle de coopération de Luxembourg in cooperation with EMHRN). The Euromed Civil Forum, which took place from 1 to 3 April 2005 in Luxembourg, is part of a long series of meetings held by Euro-Mediterranean civil society. From its beginning in 1995, people involved in environmental, human rights, women‘s, development and cultural action NGOs as well as labour unions and political foundations have been monitoring the Barcelona Process closely.
Encouraged by their previous experiences, these actors – gathered in the Euromed Non-Governmental Platform - broke new ground in several respects in Luxembourg :
It is therefore no surprise that the final declaration from this forum achieved the immediate attention of the Euromed Committee who invited a forum delegation to voice the main conclusions at their meeting.
At the tenth anniversary of the Euromed Partnership, civil society has proven its commitment to revitalizing the Partnership and has clearly shown the paths to follow to succeed in this endeavour.
This publication contains all working documents and reports from the debates and workshops. The Platform has thus achieved another of its challenges: to make sure that the debates and recommendations from workshops during the Euromed Civil Forum enter into our collective memory.
