Human Rights Education: A Background Paper
|
A paper sharing the discussions of the EMHRN Working Group on HRE and its values (EMHRN HRE WG, 2003). This paper has been published as a discussion paper on Human Rights Education (HRE) for the EMHRN by members of the Network’s Human Rights Education Working Group. It aims at outlining and exploring the values and perspectives of the working group on HRE and outlining a content and approach for HRE in the Network. It concludes that HRE is not only necessary and vital – it is fundamentally relevant to people’s current and future lives as well as those of their children. Therefore, HRE must assume a higher priority than heretofore. Rather than proposing practical ideas or suggestions for delivering human rights education, the paper offers a general framework without reference to individual country circumstances. |
